BTW, my intended live demo of the physics calculations in Maple failed during my 2nd talk because of a problem in the Maple license manager. I had removed the wireless lan card from my laptop because I didn´t need it during the demo. I did know it at the time, but this entirely disabled my license for Maple! My conclusion (which I also included in my talk) was that this was just another demonstration of why one should prefer open source software.
So if anyone else is planning to distribute copies of the DoyenCD at a conference be sure to bring lots of copies!
This CD is a great tool with which to promote Axiom. Great work guys!
actually, i plan to distribute copies at the ISSAC 2006 conf. there will be an estimated 150 people there (according to the organizers). plus i'm giving away some free copies of the axiom tutorial. wonder if i'll have room for my clothes in the suitcase :-)t

I think BitTorrent? is a good way to distribute very large files likedoyen-42206.iso
. BitTorrent? includes a method
similar to MD5SUM to ensure the authenticity of the downloaded
file.
I recently setup BitTorrent? servers at both axiom-developer and the axiom.risc mirror to distribute the binary installer file for the Windows version of Axiom (see AxiomBinaries?). I would be glad to help someone do this for the DoyenCD if there is some interest.

On a related subject: I think it would be real nice if someone would design a good CD label for the DoyenCD. Giving out hand-labelled copies of the CD does not seem very "professional" to me. If someone does this, could you please upload a label here that we can use when making copies?
I just downloaded the Doyen CD last night. Given that it's dated April of 2006, could a more recent version of Axiom be put on it?-- M. Edward (Ed) Borasky
Hi Ed,I am currently working on putting a more recent version of Axiom on the Live CD, maybe with an upgrade to Fedora Core 4 or even Core 5. I hope to have this completed by next week.

Alfredo Portes
Here is a draft label for the Doyen CD. It is done using the common Avery Design Pro software that is included with the Avery CD/DVD label package # 05931. Jose, Wilken,I'm about to start burning Doyen CDs? for ISSAC.
I expect to burn about 150 depending on time and success rate.
It would be great if we had a printable page that contains "introductory information" that I can put in the envelope with the CD. It should just point out how to start it, where to find installable programs and what the root password is. It would help to mention CAISS. In fact, if Gilbert agrees you could send me a copy of the page on CAISS letterhead and I can make copies for insertion. That's up to Gilbert but I think the exposure at ISSAC is important both for your careers and CAISS.
I'm going to use the HP LightScribe? CD (the one that burns a label directly onto the CD) so it all looks professional.
Assuming you have no objections the CD will have both of your names burned in front surface. Let me know if this is ok.

Sorry to nag but is it possible to update maxima to its current version 5.14.0. In the cd there is an ancient version of maxima.
