Fricas is a general purpose system for doing mathematics by computer. It is a descendant (fork) of Axiom. It is especially useful for symbolic calculations, mathematical research and for the development of new [mathematical algorithms]?. FriCAS? has a strongly-typed high-level "programming language":[FriCAS language]? for expressing a mathematical concepts. Over 1,000 mathematical domains and categories are collected in the [FriCAS Library]?. Consult the Rosetta Stone to compare FriCAS? to some other Computer Algebra systems.

Currently you can use Axiom, Fricas, Maxima (ATM rendering Maxima output is mostly broken), OpenAxiom?, Reduce, on this website. The results of your calculation will appear on the web page like this:

fricas
θ':=integrate(θ^%i, θ)

\label{eq1}{ \ {{e}^{i \ {\log \left({}\right)}}}}\over{1 + i}(1)
Type: Union(Expression(Complex(Integer)),...)

Try this online in the SandBox?

  • Aldor is finally free (July 2013). As a result this much improved library compiler is now available to FriCAS? and other Axiom users. Thank you to everyone who signed the FreeAldor? petition over the past few years. Thank you especially to Stephen Watt of the University of Western Ontario, Robert Sutor of IBM and Mike Dewar of NAG for making this happen. Now we finally have an opportunity to make sure that Aldor lives!
  • Recent releases of FriCAS? support [Unicode]? variable names and symbols. This means we can now use many more common mathematical symbols and non-roman characters in FriCASWiki? (default) web pages. Thank you Waldek!
