Edit detail for #380 Axiom doesn't start revision 1 of 3

Sorry if this is too basic, but I've recently installed axiom in my amd64 gentoo 64 bits machine and when I type axiom at the promt I get the axiom console with the following message ::

 Error: Can't open file "/opt/axiom/algebra/exposed.data"
 Fast links are on: do (si::use-fast-links nil) for debugging
 Error signalled by SYSTEM:TOP-LEVEL.
 Broken at APPLY.  Type :H for Help.
 BOOT>>   

 process are still running 

 (part of ps ax)

Could you please explain exactly what version of Axiom you
installed and what procedure you used for the installation?
